If you’re looking to really have complete control over your music, and you have the determination, time, and money to invest, stick to the programs I stated above. These are all some of the most expensive programs that money can buy, but they are extremely powerful if you know how to use them.

Some people on the other hand, are beginners and want to make beats without breaking their pockets. For these people, I recommend getting a free trial or demo of some beat creating program and testing the waters before spending $500+ on one of the more powerful programs. One of the most popular demos is a program called FL Studio. This is a decent beat creating program for beginners since it’s free and has a lot of features. But for some, FL Studio is too technical and has too steep of a learning curve.

Another option, and my own personal recommendation is to make beats online. There are a few different websites that allow you to make your own beats and make instrumentals. My personal favorite is a program called Sonic Producer. It’s fairly new, but it has been gaining lots of buzz lately with hip-hop and techno beat makers. This program almost eliminates the learning curve of other programs and make it extremely easy to make beats fast.

As I’ve described, it doesn’t take much to get started creating beats. You really just need a computer and program for beat creating.
